On April 8, 2024, Shambulia Gadsden Sams and nine MD volunteers conducted a memorial service at the entrance of the MD statehouse to acknowledge those who have already passed away while waiting on the passage of the bill and those who will pass away this year without the benefit of a peaceful transition. This is to remind legislators the need for continued action on our medical aid in dying legislation in 2025.

  • Palm cards were given out to legislators and staffers.
  • Volunteers talked to House Bill sponsor Delegate Terry Hill and co-sponsor Delegate Bonnie Cullison.
  • Volunteers dropped off palm cards at Delegate Jill Carter’s office.

The Maryland End of Life Option Act (HB 0403), The Honorable Elijah E. Cummings and the Honorable Shane E. Pendergrass Act, was introduced on January 18, 2024.
