The Lila Manfield Sapinsley Compassionate Care Act ( S2093) was introduced on January 12, 2024. It is sponsored by Senator Kallman. A hearing has been scheduled for March 5 at 5pm.

On January 10, 2024, H7100: The Lila Manfield Sapinsley Compassionate Care Act was filed by Representative Edith Ajello.  The bill was referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary and a public hearing was held on February 15, 2024. The bill is still in committee and we will update this page as we learn more. Compassion & Choices submitted written testimony in support of the legislation. 

Faced with a terminal diagnosis, Rhode Island residents deserve the full range of options for care at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.
