Faced with a terminal diagnosis, New Hampshire residents deserve the full range of options for care at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.

For the first time since 2020, a bill to authorize medical aid in dying has been filed in New Hampshire. HB1283 was filed by Representative Marjorie Smith. The bill has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee and a hearing was held on February 7 at 10am. The Committee heard testimony from both sides, and have scheduled an executive session for March 6 at 10am where they will discuss amendments to the bill and vote on whether the bill should move forward.

The New Hampshire Alliance for End of Life Options is a grassroots organization committed to education and advocacy in the service of better end-of-life experiences for all New Hampshire people.
